The Instrument Manager module is the main tool for configuring total stations. Each total station that is directly connected to Trimble 4D Control Server is represented by a Data Collector module. The Instrument Manager module synchronizes the schedules of the Data Collector modules and sets the priorities of these schedules. Moreover, it gives a graphical overview and shows potential conflicts.
The Instrument Manager module is available from the Tree view root Trimble 4D Control Server. It controls the Data Collector modules added to one Controller, that is to one computer. In a distributed system, each computer connected with total stations needs its own Instrument Manager module. In other words, Trimble 4D Control Server accepts one Instrument Manager module per connected computer.
When the module is being added, the Instrument Manager Properties dialog appears. It lets you define and select Device Manager module configurations. Each configuration holds the list of connected Data Collector modules and information on the priority of these modules in case of scheduling conflicts. You may remove a configuration from here, if you do not need it anymore. You may change the settings of the selected Instrument Manager configuration at any time.
For the Instrument Manager module, one module-view page exists.
Only one Data Collector controlled by the Instrument Manager can connect to one total station at the same time. For multiple Data Collectors connecting to the same total station, you can set priorities to resolve connection conflicts. To do so, edit the Instrument Manager properties.
While you will use the Data Collector module properties to enable or disable the scheduler of a single Data Collector module, you can do this all in one using the Instrument Manager's shortcut menu.
