Status bar: Download mode and status for software updates

The status bar's software-update icon pertains to a twofold purpose:

Indicating the up-to-date status of the software and of the availability of updates.
Giving access to commands that start the search for, and the download of, software update files.

Update status

For how the appearance of the software-update icon indicates the current status of the software, see the following table:

Update-related commands

When you right-click onto one of the icons listed in the table above, a shortcut menu gives access to several commands.

Disable updates: One of two commands that toggle the update mode. If this command is selected, the software-supported download of software updates is disabled. You have to check for new updates and to download them manually. This selection sets the System Properties' Update mode for software property to Disabled.

Automatically check for updates & notify: One of two commands that toggle the update mode. If this command is selected, the software-supported download of software updates is enabled and additional commands will be available, depending on the current update status. Once a day, Trimble 4D Control Server will check the Trimble web server for updates to the current software version. This selection sets the System Properties' Update mode for software property to Check & notify.

Check for software update now: This command is only available, if the Automatically check for updates & notify command is selected. If you select the command, Trimble 4D Control Server will immediately connect to the Trimble web server and check for new updates. The next automatic surveys for updates will then follow daily.

Show software update information: This command is only available, if the Automatically check for updates & notify command is selected and if the software-update icon is either in the (software update available) or in the (software update pending) status. Select this command to open the Software Update Version <version number> dialog. Use the dialog to read details on the update that is available at the Trimble web server and to start the download and distribution of these update files.
