Status bar

The status bar serves several purposes:

The time server - Selecting the time system

A time server tool automatically starts up with the startup of Trimble 4D Control Server. It puts time information at the system’s disposal and sends events through the system on new hour, new day, etc.

The time displayed in the status bar results from the internal time server. It can be displayed in several time systems (for example: UTC, local time). The format of times depends on the Windows regional settings of the computer running the Trimble 4D Control Server UI.

Right-clicking into the time field opens a shortcut menu. It shows the time systems available for be used to display time data. The currently selected time system is checked. To change the time system for the display in the status bar, select one of the time system options.

Tip - Local time refers to the computer running the master Controller. It does not depend on the computer running the current UI.

User access levels

The status bar access level icons refer to the applied security permissions to the current user. See the following table:

User level

Grayed out - Guests are not allowed to control the module.

Operator

Depending on (current) access right, either black (full control right) or grayed out.

Administrator

Black - Administrators have full control rights on all modules.

Bandwidth control status

When logging in one selects a bandwidth used for the communication between the Trimble 4D Control Server UI and the Trimble 4D Control Server service to which it connects. The status bar indicates the current bandwidth selection.

Open (full speed)

No restriction, status views are updated every second; recommended for LANs with at least 10 MBit/s [1 sec].

Controlled (medium connection)

Some message types in the status view are only updated every five seconds [5 sec].

Restricted (slow connection)

Some message types in the status view are only updated every fifteen seconds [15 sec].

Database availability and size

Two sections of the status bar pertain to the availability of the database and its size.

Connected and running.

Icon Status Bar Database Infected

Connected, but in an alarm status (for example, full).

Icon Status Bar Database File Reducing

Connected, data is currently deleted or reduced, or cache files are sent to the database.

Icon Status Bar Database Unavailable

Not connected.

License status

The status bar uses the following icons to indicate, whether the system is currently running with a valid license.

Icon Status Bar Lock None

No license.

Icon Status Bar Lock Soft

Online license with a connection to the license server.

Icon Status Bar Lock Hard

Hardware key with a valid license is plugged in.

Mixed license status - Both, online and hardware license available.

When the connection to the license server has been lost, the license will be active for the following four days. As a warning, the background of the license status icon will be bright yellow. Thereafter, the software will run without any license with minimum features; the status bar displays the Icon Status Bar Lock None "No license" icon in this case.
