This dialog appears, if you do one of the following:
Use the dialog to select a CSV (Comma Separated Values) text file containing point information in a specified format for data import. The imported points are added to the mission the selected Data Collector module refers to.
Note - Point information is fed into the system in two ways: It can be imported automatically from JobXML files. (You specify the JobXML file(s) either when importing it into a Data Collector module or in the configuration of a Terrestrial Engine PP module.) In a real-time environment, you can specify point information when setting up the mission-related Data Collector module, either by importing point information from a CSV file or by manually adding new points to the list and editing its properties.
Generally, the dialog looks like and works like an enhanced Windows folder and file selection dialog.
However, beneath the file type selection field, a group of parameters lets you specify default values which may be applied to the data, when imported.
Format: Specifies the CSV file format, including the separator and order in a row, in which the positions are stored in the import file. Available file formats are the following:
Both formats require that the point name information not only trails the row, but is also repeated at its end.
<< / >> button: If you click this toggle button, the dialog either shows or hides more selection and editing fields.
Open: Opens the selected file and compares its contents with the system-wide point database. The Point Import: <filename> dialog appears displaying the file contents and comparison results in a table. Use it to view and edit the properties of the import points and to update the point information list.
If the dialog is fully displayed it shows several selection and editing fields. Use them to specify the properties which by default will be assigned to all points which will be created based on the data of this import file. These are the properties for which defaults can be edited or selected:
For more information on these properties, see the description of the System properties.
Tip - During import, you can assign different values to each point. The settings specified here, are used as defaults only.
