Point Import: <Filename> dialog

This dialog appears, if you have started the automatic import of point data from Comma Separated Value files (CSV text files). Use the Point Import: <filename> dialog for the following:

Point information

The CSV file should be set up in a way that it contains one row of information for each point; the values should be separated by commas and obey the file format selected in the Point Import From CSV File dialog.

For each row in the CSV file, the table of the Point Import:<filename> dialog displays one row of information. The points appear in order of the rows in the CSV file.

Note - The name of the mission, for which the Data Collector module is set up, is automatically added as a prefix to the point names appearing in the list.

Displayed properties of the points for a file obeying the P,N,E,elev format, for example, are point name, coordinates, and point type. While most of the properties are imported from the CSV file, the point type values are default values as specified in the Point Import From CSV File dialog.

Missing or incongruent values

Trimble 4D Control Server has analyzed the contents of the CSV file and compared it to the system wide point database before displaying it. The table below gives an overview on possible comparison results and, if applicable, for required actions before you can proceed with the point import.

Editing and resetting the values

You can edit or change the selection of any value of the displayed points.

Note - The point type values of the displayed points are the default values. Therefore, it is a good idea to have set the default value for the point type to that point type that should be most often assigned to the available import points when you open the file using the Point Import From CSV File dialog. Typically, this will be target points. All displayed points will be set to Target. For the points referring to the location of a total station, for example, then change the Point type value manually to Total station.

The edits do not change the import file, but will be respected during data import. To reset all your edits to the values stored in the import CSV file, click Reset. For a description of allowed edits and available selections, see, for example, the description of the Point Information dialog.

Selecting points for import

A point is selected for being created and / or its point information for being added to the system-wide point database, if its Create check box is selected. For excluding a point from being imported or its information from being updated (if for this point information already exists in the database or in the file), remove the selection from the Create option. All selects all points, None removes all selections. OK starts the data import.

By default, all points in the file are selected for import.
