Segment Configuration Settings dialog

This dialog appears if you do the following:

  1. Add the Data Logger IPI module. The Data Logger IPI Properties dialog appears with the General Settings tab.
  2. Set the focus onto the Segment columns value field and click the browse button.

Use the Segment Configuration Settings dialog to configure this instance of the Data Logger IPI module for the correct interpretation of the contents of a line within the data logger data files.

Note - Use this dialog for the configuration of the first segment contained in the data file. Since all following segments deliver identical data columns in identical order, the configuration of the first segment automatically implies the configuration of all segments.

In its upper part, the Segment Configuration Settings dialog presents some basic information on how a line in the data file is set up. You will have provided this information setting the module properties Number of segments, Timestamp column number, and First segment column number.

Specifying the contents of a segment

Specifying the number and order of columns for a segment

The main (lower) part of the dialog consists of two panels which let you provide the information on how the module must interpret the values it reads in. Use it to specify

Both panels contain button-like representatives for data types which the module can interpret.

When you first access the dialog, the Order of Data Columns Within a Segment panel contains the items for tilt measurements in both directions. If a segment contains more data, set the cursor onto a data type representation in the upper Available Data Columns panel and drag it to the target position in the lower panel.

Available data columns are, for example, tilt in A or B direction (Tilt A, Tilt B), cumulative displacement in both directions (Cumulative Displacement A, Cumulative Displacement B), and Temperature. If you drag one of these items to the Order of Data Columns Within a Segment panel, it disappears from the Available Data Columns panel.

Skipping columns

Within the data file your data logger delivers, the sequence of data columns representing one segment may contain other values. These columns must be skipped when the module reads in the data file. For each column whose values must not be read in, set the cursor onto the Skip item and drag it to the target position. Inserting multiple Skip items is possible.

Changing the order of data columns

For changing the order of columns in the Order of Data Columns Within a Segment panel, set the cursor onto an item and drag it laterally to the position where the respective values are located in the data file.

Removing a column item

If the Order of Data Columns Within a Segment panel contains an item that is not contained in the data file and you want to remove it, set the cursor onto that item and drag it vertically to the Available Data Columns panel.
