File Filter Editor Dialog

The File Filter Editor dialog gives you the choice of filtering files according to their file extension or specified file name text strings.

All (*.*)

Selects all files not respecting their file extension. Depending on the environment, some file types may nevertheless be excluded from the selection, due to software restrictions. For example, the Disk Watch module does not delete read-only files, files that are currently open, files or folders for which the current user has no access rights, and so on.

User defined

If selected, all files with one of the extensions displayed in the list field belong to the file selection. The file types displayed depend on the default settings for the module environment or on your previous edits. Use the icons on top of the list to add further file types, or to remove file types from the list.

Icon File Filter Add Add button

Adds an edit section to the list. Enter a file extension with preceding asterisk or text (and question mark) and dot characters. Possible filter criteria may be for example: *.xxx; *.sp3.Z; test??.txt; report*06.xml. Remember, that an asterisk stands for an arbitrary number of characters, while each question mark represents one single character. Please note that slashes ( / ) and backslashes ( \ ) are not allowed for file characterization.

Warning - Using wildcard characters may cause the accidental selection of files of a type not intended for selection.

Icon File Filter Delete Remove button

Removes the highlighted file type(s) from the list. Multiple selections are possible.

Default button

Returns the filter to the default selections. Default file filters depend on the module using the filter.
