Settop M1 connection settings

The Settop M1 connection type is one of several connection types that serve the communication between a Settop M1 Monitoring Controller and a Trimble 4D Control Server module connecting to an instrument, such as a total station or a temperature sensor.

Tip - What is a Settop M1 Monitoring Controller used for
The Settop M1 is a total station controller for monitoring applications. It integrates the functionalities of a field computer, a device server, a network router, a cellular modem and a remote power supply into a single unit. The Settop M1 has a web interface, which provides functionality for controlling a total station, including the site setup and the scheduling of measurement cycles. Since the Settop M1 can run autonomously and has a large onboard memory, it is able to collect and store observations even if the connection to the Trimble 4D Control Server software is down. Once the connection is restored, the Settop M1 seamlessly transmits all buffered data to Trimble 4D Control Server.

Basically, the Settop M1 connection type is a TCP/IP connection to the Settop M1 device.

To configure a Settop M1 connection, select the Settop M1 connection type. The properties of the Connection Settings category adjust themselves for the selected connection type.

Server name: Specifies the name (IP address or host name) of the TCP/IP server host socket. The connection will be built up to the default Settop M1 port at that server.
