General chart properties

The chart Properties appear if you do one of the following:

• If the Properties view is already displayed (either docked to the main window or floating): Set the focus onto the module view name.
• If the Properties view has not been opened yet: Right-click into the chart view area to open its shortcut menu, then select Properties. The Properties view appears.

Use the chart Properties to view and edit the settings for the data this chart displays as well as the properties of chart elements. Depending on the chart generating module, additional settings may be available. See the module description.

Chart Properties

Most of the settings of this category toggle the display of graphical elements in the chart.

Grid: If set to Yes, a grid will help you to easily read the values within the graph.

Chart title: If set to Yes, a title identifies the displayed data. Especially useful, when saving or printing the chart.

Legend: If set to Yes, a legend displays at the right side of the chart. Use the legend to view color assignment and to toggle the display of lines by setting or removing the check in the check box.

Axis labels: If set to Yes, both the x-axis and the y-axis display labels, which identify the value type. Typically, the x-axis is the time scale. Axis ticks display in any case, independently whether Axis labels is set to Yes or No.

Zoom direction: This setting relates to the zooming functionality. It defines the result of cursor movement over the graph. Possible selections are horizontal (zooming in x-axis direction only), vertical (in y-axis direction only), or both in x-axis and y-axis direction.

Show point markers: If set to Yes, each data point is marked, thus simplifying the identification of specific points. With a high number of displayed data points, it may be preferable to set this value to No. You can easily toggle this setting using the button at the top of the chart.

Show lines: For many graphs, you may select, whether the data is displayed in form of continuous lines ( set to Yes ) or not (set to No).

Line/point thickness: For many graphs, you may select how thick the lines or data points appear on the graph. Available selections are Thin, Medium, Thick.

Anti-aliasing: If this setting is set to Yes, line graphs appear smoother.

Chart Data Properties

The settings of this category refer to the data that is displayed in the chart.

Maximum number of data points: Defines how many data points are displayed for the selected period. If more data exist for the selected period, averages from the adjacent data are computed and displayed.

Time span: For many graphs, you may select a period to be displayed at the x-axis values. Depending on the graph, ranges between 1 minute and 2 years may be available.

Update rate: Reduces the amount of data used for curve computation (before average computation).

Show minimum / maximum lines: If set to Yes, vertical bars indicate the minimum and the maximum value of the data that contributed to the mean value of the data point. You can easily toggle this setting using the button at the top of the chart.

Time type: Lets you select the time type for the horizontal axis. Available selections are the following:

• GPS seconds: GPS time in GPS week and GPS seconds.
• GPS: Date and time in GPS time. This is the time all computations are based upon.
• UTC: Date and time in UTC time. Leap seconds to GPS time are respected.
• Local: Date and time in local time. The offset from GPS time to local time is derived from the computer clock.

Automatically scale Y axis: Selects the scaling type of the Y axis. If set to Yes (default setting), the Y-axis adjusts itself in a way that it best fits current values and graph size. To define a fixed scale, select No. The Minimum Y axis value and Maximum Y axis value settings become available. Use these settings to set a lower and a higher boundary value of the Y axis. For units see the current axis label. Fixed scales can be helpful when comparing several graphs of the same type.
