Units displayed in the UI - The Display Options dialog

This dialog appears if you do one of the following:

Use it to customize the Trimble 4D Control Server UI for units and number formatting.

Note - The settings do not influence the computation of values.

Unit category

Display: Specifies the length unit to be displayed for coordinates in views and dialogs. Available selections are:

Formatting category

Use the settings of this category to specify the appearance of numbers in the Trimble 4D Control Server UI.

Decimal precision: Specifies how many decimals are displayed. Available selections are between no decimals (Select 0) and 5 decimals (select 0.12345).

Show trailing zeros: If set to Yes, the trailing zeros of fractional numbers are shown. Default: No (not trailing zeros).

Show trailing decimal: If set to Yes, the trailing decimal separator is shown, when no trailing zeros are visible.

Rounding mode: Specifies the mode of how displayed values are rounded. Possible selections are Normal, Up, Down.

Automatic rounding: If set to Yes, numbers are rounded to the last displayed decimal. (The Decimal precision setting specifies how many decimals are displayed.) If set to No, the Rounding to nearest setting appears, which specifies the number of decimals to display.

Rounding to nearest: Only available for editing if Automatic rounding is set to No. Specifies how many decimals are displayed. Available selections are between no decimals (Select 0) and 5 decimals (select 0.12345).

Suffix sub-category

Use the settings of this category to specify whether length values should be displayed with their unit.

Display: If set to Yes, units are displayed anywhere where a length value appears in views.

Abbreviation: Only available for editing if Display is set to Yes. Specifies the appearance of the unit. The selections available depend on the length unit selected in the Unit category.

Space: Only available for editing if Display is set to Yes. If set to Yes, a space separates the unit from the value.

Tip for entering units - When you edit unit format settings, you are changing how the units display in views, spreadsheets, and settings. You can, however, enter units by including a character for the type in any of the valid display formats that you see in the format settings. These are converted to the display format for the unit. For example, if the display unit is International foot, you can enter 3m to specify 3 meters. These will be converted to 9,843 ft.
