Using system configurations
Trimble 4D Control Server supports the management of several system configurations. Use the File menu to save, load, or delete system configurations.
Changing system configurations
- Each time you insert or remove a module from the tree, you are changing the current Trimble 4D Control Server system configuration.
- System configurations are not changed if the module properties are changed.
- During the first 60 seconds after startup, you can skip the loading of the modules of all or individual Containers, if the Trimble 4D Control Server UI is running.
- It is not possible to change system configurations while a system configuration is being loaded, or while other actions on system configurations are performed.
To keep modifications even after restart, you have to save them first.
Saving system configurations
- To save the current system configuration under the same name, select File > Save System Configuration or press the CTRL + S keys.
- To save the current system configuration under a new name, select File > Save System Configuration as. The Save System Configuration dialog appears. Enter a name and click Save.
- In a distributed system, saving of system configurations is only allowed, if all participating computers and their Containers are running and connected.
- When you terminate the Trimble 4D Control Server UI after changes to the system configuration were made, you are asked if you want to save the current system configuration. Accept with Yes, if you want to keep the current system configuration, even if you will not terminate the processes.
Warning - If you close the Trimble 4D Control Server UI without saving changes to the current system configuration, and then re-open it, while the services have not stopped running, the Trimble 4D Control Server UI does not know that changes have been made previously. The next time the Trimble 4D Control Server UI is then stopped, it will not ask again whether to save the system configuration or not.
Loading system configurations
- When starting the Trimble 4D Control Server system, the last active system configuration is reloaded automatically with a delay of approximately one minute. Only if the Trimble 4D Control Server UI is open in this period, the Starting up With Last System Configuration dialog appears. Use it to individually load or skip specific Containers or to select another Trimble 4D Control Server system configuration to be loaded.
- To manually load a different system configuration without terminating Trimble 4D Control Server, select File > Load System Configuration or press the CTRL + L keys. The Load System Configuration dialog appears. Select a system configuration and click Load. The current system configuration will automatically be unloaded first.
- It is not possible to manually load system configurations while a system configuration is being loaded, or while other actions on system configurations are performed.
Unloading system configurations
- To manually unload a system configuration without terminating Trimble 4D Control Server, select File > Unload System Configuration. All modules of the current system configuration are unloaded. The services keep running and you can start to build up a new system configuration from scratch.
Deleting system configurations
To delete a system configuration from the list of available configurations, do one of the following:
- Select File > Load System Configuration. The Load System Configuration dialog appears. Select a configuration and click Delete.
- Select File > Save System Configuration as. The Save System Configuration dialog appears. Select a configuration and click Delete.
Even if you then cancel these dialogs, the selected system configuration is deleted and is no longer available.
Note - Deleting a system configuration has no effect on the available module configurations.
