The login dialog appears, when you start the Trimble 4D Control Server UI application. It is used to connect the Trimble 4D Control Server UI to a server computer running Trimble Distributed Environment (TDE), applying specified user rights and bandwidth control settings.
By default, the Server selection field displays This computer. You can keep this selection, if you are running a Trimble 4D Control Server service on the local computer. If Trimble 4D Control Server UI is installed at a computer, where no Trimble 4D Control Server service is running, do one of the following:
Note - The port number 31021 is the factory-default port number over which the Trimble 4D Control Server UI communicates with the Controller service on the addressed computer.
Use the User (case insensitive) and Password (case sensitive) fields to provide the name and password for login. When logging in, the entries are compared with the entries in the UserManagement_Users table of the Trimble 4D Control Server database. Only users listed there can log on.
By default, the following users exist, all of them not protected by passwords:
Note - To better protect the system, the Trimble 4D Control Server administrator responsible for the database maintenance should specify proprietary user accounts, assigning them specific access privileges. From the main menu, administrators select the File > User Management command or click the button. This opens the User Management dialog which lets one add and edit user logins, particularly specifying passwords. The default user logins can of course be deleted from the database. Additionally, an emergency access can be set up for the case that the database is not available when logging in.
Starts the connection of the selected Trimble 4D Control Server server with the Trimble 4D Control Server UI. A progress bar indicates the remaining time until the Trimble 4D Control Server UI appears.
Opens the Trimble 4D Control Server About dialog. Since the Trimble 4D Control Server UI is not yet connected to the server, some of the information is not yet available.
The Details group lets you view and edit details on the selected server. To add a new server, you can edit the settings here and click Apply. To remove a server from the list, select it in the Server field, click Remove.
With this setting you can restrict the bandwidth used for communication between the Trimble 4D Control Server UI and the Trimble 4D Control Server service to which it connects. This is especially useful when you connect the UI from a remote system over a slow line, for example via a modem. In this case, real-time updates of module status views occur less frequently. The status bar of the main window will indicate the current bandwidth setting.
Bandwidth control setting |
Icon in status bar |
More details |
---|---|---|
Open (full speed) |
No restriction, status views are updated every second; recommended for LANs with at least 10 MBit/s [1 sec]. |
|
Controlled (medium connection) |
Some message types in the status view are only updated every five seconds [5 sec]. |
|
Restricted (slow connection) |
Some message types in the status view are only updated every fifteen seconds [15 sec]. |
Note - The Bandwidth control setting applies for the communication with the UI only. It does not have any impact on the functionality of the system.
Restrictions only apply to specific message types, which contain information that is frequently updated, such as GNSS observations and information on visible and tracked satellites received from the receiver instrument and displayed in the GNSS Receiver module view. Other messages, such as warning messages or information on ephemeris, almanac, and satellite time will always be displayed, independently from the bandwidth restrictions.
