Scheduler Configuration dialog

The Scheduler Configuration dialog appears, if you add a Data Collector module to the system or change its properties and do one of the following:

Use the dialog to specify scheduler settings, such as the start time, duration, and repeat intervals for scheduled actions. All times refer to the selected time system.

Daily Run Time group

Start time: Specifies the time of the selected days at which the action starts the first time. Default: 00:00.

Duration: The time in hours specified here is added to the start time to define the period, within which the action will be repeated using the repeat interval selected in the Repeat Settings group. Specify a value between one and 24 hours. Default: 24 h.

Repeat Settings group

Repeat interval: Specifies after which time the action (when scheduling round measurements, this refers to scheduling a set of up to four round measurements) is repeated within the period given in the Daily Run Time group. Possible selections offered in the drop-down list are time intervals between 5 minutes and 24 hours, and Once, and Continuous (for round scheduler settings only). To define the start time of all actions, Trimble 4D Control Server (repeatedly, if applicable) adds the selected interval to the start time defined in the Daily Run Time group. Thus, the specified start times fully depend on your settings (and not on the time you happened to set up the scheduling settings). Default: 1 h.

Enable failure repeat interval: Only available, if configuring the rounds scheduler. If selected, you can specify a period after which Trimble 4D Control Server tries to repeat the action once, if it has failed before. Select an interval between 10 minutes and 1 hour. Default: Not selected.

For example, with a start time at 11:00, a repeat interval of 10 minutes and a failure repeat interval of 30 minutes selected and an action failure at 11:00:01, the next try to perform this action will be at 11:30.

Tip - If the Repeat interval property is set to Continuous, make sure to enable Enable failure repeat interval. Otherwise, a failure of the action can lead to high work load, if the module continuously tries to repeat that action.

Recurrence Pattern category

Use the settings of this category to specify the days of the week at which the scheduled action is to be performed. Make sure these days are selected.

Note - You need to select at least one day of the week. There is one exception from this rule: If the Repeat interval is set to Once, and no day is selected, the action runs exactly once at the next specified start time.

See some scenarios for how to configure the scheduler.

Scenario 1: Run every day from 10:00 for 6 hours, every 10 min

Scenario 2: Run every day from 10:00 for 6 hours; continuous

Scenario 3: Run Sun, Wed, at 10:00; once

Scenario 4: Run every day from 22:00 for 4 hours, every 1 h
