Reset Reference Circle dialog

This dialog appears if you do the following:

Note - Selecting the Reset Reference Circle command not only opens a dialog, but also induces Trimble 4D Control Server to connect to the total station instrument for which this module is set up. If it fails to connect, a warning appears, but the dialog opens nevertheless. Closing the dialog additionally disconnects the Trimble 4D Control Server system from that total station. Opening the dialog while a round is measured, stops the scheduler and aborts the round measurement. In the latter case, a warning appears.

Use the Reset Reference Circle dialog to steer the connected total station instrument and to repeat at least one reference measurement to update the orientation of the horizontal circle. The Data Collector module internally computes the differences between the two reference measurements and then adds the differences to all target points in the list.

Automatically re-establishing the station

When you start the reference circle reset, Trimble 4D Control Server connects to the total station instrument. After it has successfully connected, a message appears that lets you select, whether to automatically re-establish the station.

Enabled Points group

Use the settings of this group to view and specify the target points to be measured in a reference measurement.

The list displays the Target Name of the enabled target points in the order as they have been added to the list and/or sorted using the arrow button. Disabled point do not appear in this list and will not be part of the reference circle reset. Put the focus on a target name to activate this target for the reference measurement. A check box left of the target name gives the current status of the target point:

No reference measurement available yet.

Reference measurement successfully performed; raw measurement data in three directions are available in both faces.

Reference Measurement and Station Setup groups

Input values, such as Target height and Prism constant used for correcting the target information, and the station setup parameters Mode, Instrument height, and Backsights are not available for editing.

Measuring

Clicking the Measure button starts the reference measurement for the selected target point in both faces, 1 and 2. If you repeat a reference measurement, the previous target information is overwritten with the newly measured values. A dialog appears, which asks you whether or not to apply the delta differences to all other targets.

Target information

The text boxes of the Reference Measurement group are filled with information on the site setup during the reference measurement. Measured values are the following, both in face 1 and face 2:

EDM distance: Distance of the prism from the Electronic Distance Measurement device. In the selected length unit.

Hz circle reading: The horizontal angle between reference circle 0 and pointing direction. In degrees.

V angle: The vertical angle between total station and target. In degrees.

Instrument Control group

Use the controls of this group to directly steer the connected total station instrument. For detailed information on the total station functions, refer to its user guide.

Arrow buttons

Use the arrow buttons in up, down, left, right, and the four diagonal directions to steer the instrument tracker near to the prism to be measured next. The arrow buttons are only active, if the speed is not set to zero.

Speed scale

Move the slider to relatively increase or decrease the velocity of total station tracker movements. If the slider is at the left of the scale, the speed equals zero.

Search button

Button TS Search

Performs a search of a prism in a wide search window using the Search total station mode.

Autolock toggle button

Enables or disables the automatic target aiming and locking mode at the total station, such as the Trimble Autolock™ mode.

Laser toggle button

Enables or disables the laser pointer at the total station.

Video Control toggle button

Only available for total stations with in-built video camera. Enables or disables the video camera at the total station for sending images. A control dialog appears that displays those images and lets you specify the quality in ten steps (the higher the quality, the larger the image size) and the video zoom in three steps. When you close the video dialog, the video camera stops sending data.

Status bar

At the left, the status bar displays status information, such as the connection status to the total station, which is represented by its serial number, battery status, or command failures. At the right, the current horizontal circle reading and vertical angle values of the total station tracker are shown.
