Properties view

Trimble 4D Control Server offers an enhanced display of object properties. The properties display is uniform throughout the software thus allowing a common click and feel. The same display is used for the wizard mode when inserting modules as for the Properties view mode.

When you insert a new module, a wizard dialog starts displaying all properties necessary for loading the module. After you have finished the dialog, the module is created with the selected properties. The Properties view displays the current module settings at any connected computer running Trimble 4D Control Server UI, where you can view and edit the settings any time. Multiple selections of objects, such as modules of the same and of different types, are possible.

If field entries (category names, property names, property values) are too long for display in the window, their full text is displayed as tool tips, when the mouse hovers over that field.

Displaying the properties:

Categories in the Properties view

Categories group the properties; properties belonging to a group are displayed under a category.

Name of a property

Unique identification of a property.

Value of a property

The field right to the property name, where the settings can either be edited manually or are selectable from a drop-down list. The drop-down arrow appears, after you have set the cursor into the respective field. If a property needs additional definitions, a browser button opens a dialog.

The value colors define the edit status of the property.

Black:

editable using the keyboard or selectable.

Gray:

not allowed for editing/selection.

If Trimble 4D Control Server detects an implausible or invalid entry, it either denies accepting the value or marks it with a red arrow pointing to the left.

For example: When you edit the Maximum file age setting for an FTP Mirror module, the correct format would be dd.hh:mm:ss. If you erroneously separate the number of days (dd) from the number of hours, by using a colon instead of a dot, the red arrow appears.

Some values may not be editable due to, for example, multiple selection or user authorization. For example, with several GNSS Receiver modules selected, the Connection type and the Port are common properties, but their values must be different for each GNSS Receiver module.

Note - A new value is only ready to be accepted, after the focus has left its value field, either by clicking into any other field or with the Tab, Shift + Tab, or F2 keyboard keys. If you leave the Property view without having accepted new values, a warning dialog appears. Choose whether you want to apply the changes or to return all properties to the previously set values.

Press ESC to exit a value field without changing the data.

Shortcut menu for property values

If a value field can be edited, a shortcut menu is available that lets you select, copy, cut, and paste contents. Other field types (for example, selection fields) do not need these editing options.

Description of a property or category

Appears below the properties field for each category or property when you have set the focus on it. Gives you detailed information on the item and the available selections for it.

Apply

Accepts all changes.

Close

Closes the dialog. If you do so without having changed the current edit, a warning dialog appears. Choose whether you want to apply the changes or to return all properties to the previously set values.
